A massive fire that broke out on Thursday evening in a canning and adhesive materials factory in Umm Al Thawb Industrial Area, was brought under control by the civil defence teams in Umm Al Quwain without any human injuries.

 

Sheikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, who was following up on the incident, praised the efforts of the civil defence teams, who were able to efficiently control the fire.

 

The CP also extended thanks, greetings and appreciation to all parties, civil defense men and various departments in Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah for their participation in the firefighting operations and for their great efforts in order to preserve lives and property.

 

Colonel Salem Hamad Bin Hamda, Director of the Civil Defence Department in Umm Al Quwain, said that the operation room was alerted at 4:40 pm about a factory that caught fire in the industrial area of Umm Al Thawab.

 

The civil defence teams were immediately dispatched to the location of the fire, where instantly proceeded with evacuating all people in the factory and in the next facilitates, Colonel Hamda said.

 

He continued, “The fire was put out and controlled within the factory, followed by proceeding with the cooling operations, before handing over the scene to the competent authorities at Umm Al Quwain Police to complete the necessary procedures.”

 

Col. Bin Hamda further explained that the firefighting teams dealt with the accident with great precision and professionalism, as no injuries nor casualties were recorded.

 

He also affirmed that the success of the mission is attributed to the fruitful cooperation with the Umm Al Quwain Police, the Ajman Civil Defence Department, the Sharjah Civil Defence Department-Al Hamriya Station, the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defense Department, Umm Al Quwain Municipality, and the Federal Electricity and Water Authority.

 

Colonel Bin Hamda also stressed the necessity of compliance with the requirements of prevention and safety to preserve life and property in order to ensure a safe society.
