Emirati journalist Ibrahim Al Abed passes away

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs has expressed its condolences on the death of Ibrahim Al Abed, who passed away on Tuesday morning. He was 78.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, mourned the death of Ibrahim Al-Abed.

Sheikh Mohammed said on Twitter, “Our condolences to our media sector in the UAE on the death of one of its founders, Ibrahim Al-Abed, may God have mercy on him..."

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, grieved the death of Ibrahim Al Abed.

Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed said, “Our sincere condolences on the passing of Ibrahim Al Abed, a UAE media giant who dedicated five decades of his life to serving our nation. May he rest in peace.”

Al Abed was a prominent figure in the UAE media sector and the Founder of the Emirates News Agency, WAM.

In a statement today, the ministry said, "In hearts that believe in God's judgment and destiny, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs mourns the late Ibrahim Al Abed, who passed away today."

Gulf Today Editor In Chief and author Aysha Taryam mourned the death.

Aysha wrote on Twitter, “The #UAE lost a great man today and I lost a mentor. Ibrahim Al Abed was a media giant whose modesty overwhelmed those who met him. We will miss your everlasting smile. RIP…”

The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathies to the Al Abed family, asking Allah Almighty to grant them patience and solace to bear their loss.
