UoS Chancellor all praise for employees’ sheer dedication

UoS announces results of 'Employee Award'.

Out of its keenness to award distinguished administrative and technical staff every year and motivate them to excel in performing their duties, the University of Sharjah organised a virtual meeting during which Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, met administrative and technical staff in the attendance of the Vice Chancellors, College Deans, Directors of Centers and Departments, and Department Heads.

The University Chancellor started the meeting thanking the University family, who had an active role in dealing with the great circumstances and challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, during which the University was able to maintain its scientific, research and teaching mission without interruption.

This is due to the unison in efforts of the University's employees, including members of its faculty, administrative and technical staff, and depending on its advanced infrastructure. The University was able to shift to the remote educational process since the beginning of this crisis with the help of several committees that were formed to follow up all logistical, administrative, preventive and precautionary measures taken by the University.

The members of these committees continued to work day and night in order to ensure the health of everyone while continuing to work with the required efficiency. The University Chancellor pointed out the keenness of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, to continuously monitor all developments at the University and to check on his children of students and all University employees.

The Chancellor praised the efforts of all University employees to promote it at all local, regional and international levels, so that it has now become the largest University in the country in terms of the number of students studying in it who reached 16,400 students this year from different countries of the world, and it includes more than 2,200 faculty and staff members.

The University of Sharjah, he added, offers many distinguished academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels that meet the needs of the local and regional labor markets. The Chancellor also highlighted several key performance indicators that show clear and tangible progress in all of the University's research and scientific activities, and at the same time its work in serving the UAE's community and encouraging and attracting national graduates to join the graduate programs and the academic, teaching and research work at the University. The University placed this goal among its priorities in its current five-year strategic plan, which it strives to achieve over the next few years.

In his speech, Dr Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, thanked the University administration for its constant keenness, despite all circumstances, to honour and support the distinguished members of the University of Sharjah family, offering congratulations to all the winners of the fifth session of the award. Following that, the names of the winners of the fifth session of the Distinguished Employee Award for the academic year 2019/2020 were announced.

Amna Salem Almuhairi, from the Registration Department, won in the Supervisory Jobs category. In the Administrative Jobs category, Captain Salah Taher Al Ameri from the Deanship of Male Student Affairs, Jawaher Muhammad Ali Al Shamsi from the Information Technology Center both won. For the new Administrative Employee category, Asma Saif Khamis Al Mazroui from the Registration Department won. For the Work Teams category, the members of the "Search Engine" project team won: Aisha Bukhatir, Director of the Admissions Department, Nasser Hafiz Rahman, Majid Al Hammadi, Horiya Issa, and Usama Rath'an. In the Support Jobs category, Harbi Musa Abdul-Ghani Hammad, Amira Muhammad Ahmad Dora from the University Security Department, and Nias Ali Hassan Congo from the Transportation Department won.

The University also offered special honoring to the members of the committees formed at the University to deal with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing work at the University in various academic, logistical and technical sectors, and implementing precautionary and preventive measures. The committees consist of (49) members of the University's faculty, administrative, and technical staff.
