Sharjah City Municipality has converted 2,992 parking spaces into paid parking spots in Muwailih, Al Nahda and Al Taawon areas.
The new paid parking spots were prepared according to the highest standards as part of the municipality's continued efforts to provide public parking spaces around the clock throughout the city of Sharjah, especially in the vital zones.
This step help prevent the misuse of parking spaces.
These parking spaces were equipped with the necessary parking signs and meters, some of which operate with touch screen.
Among the new paid parking spots,1755 parking spaces were converted to paid parking in Muwailih 3, and 651 in Al Nahda, and 586 in Al Taawon.
Abu Ghazeen noted that those vehicles give a grace period for the public to park in the public parking for a period of 10 minutes without paying fees.
“In order to make it easy for people to use the public buses within Sharjah and to encourage families to use them, the SRTA has increased the number of buses touring the city to complete 1,284 trips a day.”
The move, which comes within the second phase of the total number of parking spaces intended to be subject to same system, aims at providing parking lots for the public by making them available at all times and preventing misuse of them.
Dr Sheikh Sultan directed the Sharjah Electricity Water and Gas Authority to provide Dhs400 to beneficiaries of Sharjah Social Service Department (SSSD) aid, to be deducted from the consumption bill for Sewa.
