Officials conduct inspection of the area and serve eviction notices.

In implementation of the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah City Municipality, in cooperation with Sharjah Police and Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWGA), has begun to notify bachelor residents to evacuate their houses in Al Qadisiya area, which is designated for families only.

The municipality formed teams to conduct a complete survey of the area and count the number of violating housing units inhabited by bachelors.

More than 60 houses were notified for evacuation within a short specific period.

This came as a response to a complaint filed through the "Direct Line" programme broadcast by Sharjah TV and Radio about a large number of workers and bachelors living in Al Qadisiyah area, which causes disturbance to the families in the area.

One caller from that area said, during a telephone conversation, “There are a large number of workers living in the neighbourhood in the Qadisiyah area, which is designated for families, however workers spread among the buildings and dwellings, in a way that poses a threat to the families residing in there."

She added, “There are people who unlawfully rent to bachelors and workers, behind the knowledge of the municipality in Qadsiyah and in other areas as well.”

Thabit Al Tarifi, Director General of the Sharjah Municipality, confirmed the full readiness to implement the directives of Sheikh Sultan noting that they have already started from Sunday within a work plan in coordination with the departments concerned.
