The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has announced the registration of 5000 volunteers for the third phase of clinical trials for inactivated COVID-19 vaccine in Abu Dhabi during the first 24 hours of activating the registration site www.4humanity.ae.
The 4humanity urged residents to join the trial. It asked on social platforms, “Volunteers interested in participating in the world’s first WHO enlisted global clinical Phase III trials of COVID-19 inactivated vaccine in Abu Dhabi can now register on www.4Humanity.ae . A special hotline 028191111 has also been created for all volunteers signing up for the trials #4Humanity…”
4Humanity website greets visitors with the message, “Thank You for volunteering for the #4Humanity campaign – and helping the UAE to make history.
“Your participation in these vital Phase III trials can play a massive role in helping to overcome the global Covid-19 pandemic and has the active support of the UAE’s leadership at the highest levels.
“In the weeks ahead, as you help us in this important initiative, we wanted to reassure you that your safety will always come first.
“Before the first trial or test commences we will check your medical history to ensure you can participate.
“These trials are being conducted in compliance with strict international guidelines stipulated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Food & Drug Authority (USFDA).”
The Department of Health Abu Dhabi in collaboration with G42 Healthcare and Abu Dhabi Health Services (SEHA) has announced the opening of a new purpose-built, walk-in registration, screening and testing facility at ADNEC for volunteers who want to participate in the world’s first clinical Phase III trial of an inactivated vaccine to combat COVID-19.
Volunteers will receive their second vaccine shot in the coming weeks, and undergo regular health checks with full ongoing support from over 140 doctors, 300 nurses, and many more support staff involved in the trials.
The first Phase III trials of an inactivated vaccine for COVID-19 in the United Arab Emirates are among the largest in the world in volunteer recruitment having reached 31,000 vaccinated volunteers from more than 120 nationalities in only six weeks.
The clinical trial process is usually divided into three phases. The first phase mainly looks into the safety of the vaccine. Phase II evaluates immunogenicity and explores the immunization process in a limited number of individuals. Phase III considers the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine in a larger population sample.
