Sharjah Al Nahda Park sees 253 COVID-19 tests on first day

The free examinations campaign as so far conducted 253 tests for the coronavirus pandemic in Al Nahda, Sharjah.

The free examinations campaign for the coronavirus pandemic launched by the Sharjah Police General Command, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, conducted 253 tests on residents on the first day in Al Nahda, Sharjah.

Colonel Omar Omar Al-Ghazal, Deputy Director of the Special Tasks Department and Chairman of the Labour Camps Inspection Committee, said: “The guidance boards have been put in points of entry and exit at Al Nahda Park, the place of reception, and the addition of a self-sterilisation gate and then entry to the tent.

“A place for registration with Emirates ID and the text of the message is sent to them, so that the process of taking a sample from them remains on record.”

He stressed that in anticipation of more demand during the coming days, a new and permanent site has been prepared at the Sharjah Expo Centre that accommodates 3,000 residents per day, over a period of 3 weeks for the residents of the target area. The centre is equipped with equipment suitable for the elderly and people of determination.

The Deputy Director of the Special Tasks Department, Chairman of the Labour Residence Inspection Committee, explained that the campaign that was organized in Al Nahda Park received a good response from the various nationalities of the residents of Al Nahda, who were keen to conduct the examination.

This was done through two tents, one for men and one for women, that were equipped to take into account precautionary measures including social distancing.

The first day culminated in testing 153 men and 100 women.

He pointed out that the specialised teams based on the inspections in Sharjah have previous experience in carrying out the inspections in the industrial areas. He said that the Sharjah Police personnel work in cooperation with 14 volunteers.
