Hospital staff bid farewell to the last COVID-19 patient in Fujairah.

The competent health authorities in Fujairah closed the Fujairah Field Hospital, the last in the city's exhibition grounds.

Ahmed Al Khadim, Director General of Fujairah Hospital, in the presence of Dr. Amal Al Jasmi, Medical Director of Fujairah Hospital and Field Hospital, and Dr. Aseelah Al-Qaidi, Head of the Internal Medicine Department in Fujairah Hospital and Head of the Doctors Team at the Field Hospital, honoured the medical and nursing staff and technicians working in the field hospital for their great efforts.

Ahmed Al Khadim confirmed that the field hospital was established with a capacity of 450 beds to relieve hospitals in the city and areas of the eastern coast are accommodate simple and medium cases of people infected with the coronavirus.

"Today the field hospital celebrated the farewell of its last patients and the level of services provided by the Ministry of Health and Prevention Society."

He said that the hospital worked under high precautions and preventive measures, and during the period no cases were recorded among medical staff, including doctors, pharmacists, and nursing and technical staff, which is an achievement in addition to the distinguished treatment provided to patients and contributing to their recovery from the pandemic.

He pointed out that his administration did not face any problems from the patients, but its services were the subject of their praise, and that the real challenge was in the increasing demand by the patients and that the hospital worked with the strength of 60 medical, nursing and technical cadres alongside 70 workers, all of whom were present today during the farewell to the last patient in the field hospital.

He said, “I still remember the day when we conducted the field tour led by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Bin Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police and his team, accompanied by Dr Muhammad Abdullah Bin Saeed, Director of Fujairah Medical Zone with the Fujairah Hospital team, and before that I still remember the first cases recorded in the Emirate of Fujairah.

“For patients of COVID-19, we kept them by name, then events accelerated, and we opened the field hospital on May 2, and immediately began receiving cases in coordination and cooperation at a high level of competence and professionalism, which is the main factor in achieving success.”

He also said, “With the intensification of the crisis, we allocated a number of beds in all hospitals in the eastern coast to receive cases.

"The largest share of family allocation was in Fujairah Hospital, where 78 beds were allocated, including 8 beds for intensive care.”

He stressed that the experience of dealing with COVID-19 produced many lessons, most notably the efficacy of sincere cooperation and accurate coordination between all federal and local departments to combat the pandemic.

He thanked all the authorities working in the fight against the pandemic, appreciating the role of medical teams as a first line of defence in facing the virus after they made the generous effort by providing distinguished medical services day and night.
