UAE residents warned off poor visibility, dusty weather

Wednesday’s weather is expected to be dusty during the day and partly cloudy sometimes, particularly in the north and east, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

The winds will be south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate and strong sometimes and sand-stirring during the day at 20 to 30 and up to 40 km/hour, the NCM added, noting that the sea will be calm to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The NCM pointed out that Thursday’s weather will be hot and clear to partly cloudy sometimes. The winds will be south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate and strong sometimes and sand-stirring during the day at 20 to 30 and up to 40 km/hour, while the sea will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.

Friday’s weather is expected to be hot and clear to partly cloudy sometimes and humid at night and Saturday morning with possible fog or light fog on some coastal and inland areas, the NCM said. The winds will be north-easterly to north-westerly, light to moderate and strong sometimes at 18 to 30 and up to 40 km/hour, while the sea will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.

In April, The UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science, UAEREP, conducted its virtual international roadshow using the latest digital communication tools to enhance its collaboration with international universities, research centres and the UAE embassies abroad, as part of its preparations for the official opening of its fourth cycle for proposal submissions at the beginning of 2021.

The programme invited scientists and researchers from international universities, academic and research institutions to submit proposals for the 4th cycle of the UAEREP Award, provided that they address the research areas identified as part of the programme’s new direction and future goals, to be announced in June 2020.

Regarding the programme, Alya Al Mazroui, Director of the UAEREP, said, “Since its inception, the programme has taken a keen interest in expanding the scope and area of its research work.
