Saudi Arabian police in Assir, a region close to the Yemeni border, are investigating after a shooting incident in which six citizens died on Tuesday, state-run news agency SPA reported on Wednesday.
Three Saudis were also injured and taken to hospital, it said, giving no details on the nature of the incident which happened in al-Amwah.
The shooting in the town of Poway, north of San Diego, came exactly six months after a white supremacist killed 11 people at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life synagogue — the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in US history.
The shooter was also killed after an extended gun battle with responding officers, in a scene that "best could be described as a war zone," Virginia Beach police chief James Cervera told a news conference.
The attack took place in the small town of Grantsville, on the outskirts of state capital Salt Lake City. "Officers arrived, they did clear the residence and were able to locate the four deceased," said Grantsville police officer Rhonda Fields.
It was the third shooting in the area in less than two days, and the latest incident of gun violence that has affected churches, cinemas and other public places in the United States.
