A pickup truck with three occupants swept away in a flash flood in Sharjah’s Wadi Al Helo on Tuesday.

In the last couple of days Sharjah and other parts of the UAE received heavy to moderate rain, which caused flooding in some valleys.

It was reported that one of the three occupants was rescued and the search for the remaining two missing was under way.

A search helicopter was also pressed into the service to help the rescue team on the ground.

Sharjah Police have always warned the residents to avoid wadis and mountainous areas during the time of rain as it may prove dangerous.

But, some residents ignore warning and visit the wadis to enjoy the weather.

In the past there have been many instances when such outings proved fatal for many.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expects the weather on Wednesday to be fair to partly cloudy in general, becoming cloudy by afternoon eastward. It may be humid by night and Thursday morning with a chance of fog or mist formation over some western coastal areas.

Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds, freshening at times, causing blowing dust during daytime, with a speed of 18–28, reaching 38km/hr were likely. The waves will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

It is also expected to remain fair to partly cloudy in general, and some clouds may appear eastward by afternoon, according to the NCM.

It will be humid by night and Friday morning with a chance of fog or mist formation over some western areas. Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds, freshening at times, causing blowing dust during daytime, with a speed of 18–28, reaching 38km/hr, were possible, the NCM said.
