The gesture reflects the Sharjah Ruler’s keenness to promote locally-produced literature within the UAE’s book industry by supporting Emirati writers and intellectuals, and ultimately enhancing their presence in libraries.
The conference, part of the Sharjah World Book Capital 2019 activities, took place in the presence of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Sharjah was named a "Child Friendly City" by Unicef in May 2018 in recognition of its outstanding efforts and accomplishments in the protection and promotion of children's rights.
