The Forum will continue until February 6th.

Over the course of four days, the participants will discuss several important topics including a broad introduction to marine and coastal management of species of coral, turtles, sharks, marine mammals, al gurm and seaweed.

Participants will also cover topical problems facing these ecosystems such as fisheries, aquaculture, pollution, plastic, oil spills and climate change.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Epaa Chairperson, said, “We are pleased to launch the 21st SI, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who has great insight into the environment and sustainability and whose continued support for our work plays a very important role in the achievement of the highest levels of success and excellence. Epaa relies on His Highness’ insights and directives when developing plans and strategies; they guide the accomplishment of our goals in terms of the preservation of the environment, and educating the public about the environment’s importance and status and the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development.”

Al Suwaidi pointed out that the experts, specialists and researchers participating in SICFAB this year will exchange their experiences, suggestions, ideas and expertise in terms of the environment and its preservation with Sharjah.
