The Sharjah Criminal Court held a trial session in which an Asian was convicted of killing two people with a piece of wood near the Souq Al Jubail.

According to two prosecution witnesses, the perpetrator was involved in hitting the victims on the head for theft purposes and DNA of the perpetrator and the victims matched the traces found on the piece of wood used in both murders.

The court heard the statements of the first witness, who works in the Sharjah Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The witness said the department received three reports that a person assaulted the victims in the same way and in the same place, adding that two of the victims died after being hit by a piece of wood.

The witness stated that the defendant was arrested in the scene of the last murder where he was standing a little further from the scene of the murder and was suspected by the CID agents.

After searching the defendant, the agents seized a mobile phone that belonged to the victim as photos of the victim were found in the mobile phone memory, the witness said. The piece of wood used in the murder was seized and sent to the forensic lab where the DNA of the traces on the piece of wood matched that of the perpetrator, the witness added, noting that the perpetrator confessed to the murder for theft purposes.

The perpetrator confessed that he had been involved in two different cases and that he was suspected in the scene of the murder when he tried to speak with the CID agents to arouse their suspicion.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned the session March 1st, to summon the victim’s brother in order to provide limitation of succession and tell the court about the demands of the victims’ families.

Recently, the Dubai Public Prosecution referred an Arab man, 29 years-old, to criminal court for brutally assaulting his wife, causing a semi-permanent disability to her body.

The 23 year-old wife, testified that the incident took place at Grandeur Hotel in Al Barsha, Dubai, where she was with her husband, the defendant, and their children.

The victim stated that the defendant suddenly went red, and suspected that she was keeping an eye on his whereabouts. Using that anger, the defendant unexpectedly began punching the victim on the head and brutally chocking her.

However, the helpless victim attempted to flee the room, but the defendant grabbed her and repeatedly banged the door against her right leg, until she fell down to the floor, after which the defendant then brutally punched her in the nose.
