President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message to Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said of Oman, expressing his condolences on the death of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said.
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the soul of the deceased in Paradise.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also dispatched similar message to Sultan Haitham.
The President commended the late Sultan for being dedicated to the service of his people and nation and his work on bolstering cohesion of the Arab Nation.
Sheikh Khalifa added, "As we express our sincere condolences to the Omani royal family and the people of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman on the death of the great late Sultan Qaboos, we express our full confidence that the people of Oman and its leadership will continue his blessed march serving the causes of the nation and advance the Arab joint action."
The UAE President has also ordered a three-day mourning, starting today, Saturday, and that the UAE national flag be flown at half-mast at all government departments across the country and at all embassies and diplomatic missions of the UAE overseas.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the camaraderie between the two countries during these moments of sadness and sorrow following the demise of a great Gulf, Arab and international leader.
He highly commended the late UAE president's contributions and achievements for his own country and both Arab and Muslim worlds, making the UAE a role model at both Arab and global levels.
"The UAE Fatwa Council extends heartfelt condolences to the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the whole world on passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the leader of the 'empowerment phase and Man of Humanity'.
