Shams showcases films of young talents

Sharjah Media City (Shams) will host an awards ceremony to recognize the winners of the UAE Entertainment Experience. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, Dec 8 at the University City Hall in Sharjah.

Over 32 teams, that shot 29 experimental feature films in a period of eight months, after attending a number of training workshops and individual professional orientation sessions, competed for the coveted title.

Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams) expressed his delight on witnessing the level of professionalism displayed by youth these days.

“We have always welcomed ground breaking ideas and believed in encouraging all forms of creative work. Given the right opportunity at the right time, this pool of talent will yield great results, helping us fulfil Sharjah’s vision of becoming a city of talents,” Al Midfa said.

Al Midfa invited the audience, creative professionals and filmmakers to attend this pioneering event, and use the platform to interact with other industry professionals that have made substantial contributions in the field and created works emulating the highest of international standards.

Khulud Abu Homos, CEO of the UAE Entertainment Experience said, that the various expert- run workshops organized during the period helped educate the youth on various subjects including applied sciences.

Director Nahla Al-Fahad believed that the experience provided an opportunity for young individuals to interact and helped in the discovery of some exceptional talent, competent enough to represent the emirate of Sharjah on an international platform. It was observed that female participants stood out during several training courses and workshops.

The UAE Entertainment Experience’s awards comprise of individual and team awards worth AED 200,000. The awards are typically divided into three categories; The Gold Award valued at AED 70,000, The Silver Award valued at AED 40,000 and The Bronze Award valued at AED 20,000.  

The list of individual awards includes Best Director Award, Best Screenwriter Award, Best Actor Award, Best Actress Award, Best Production Team Leader Award, Best Director of Photography Award, Best Monteur Award, Best Soundtrack Award, Fan Voted Award, Best Film Teaser Award, Best Film Sticker Award and Best Creative Idea Award.

The panel of judges for the awards comprised, director Nahla Al Fahad, actor Dr Habib Ghuloom, writer Mohamed Hassan Ahmed, Dr Khulud Abu Homos, Dr Mustafa Al Aidaroos, Yousef Abu Bakr, and Fagr Kassim Ali.
