Ras Al Khaimah Police announced the death of Lieutenant Sheikh Saqr Bin Tariq Bin Kayed Al Qasimi on Saturday.
Sheikh Saqr Bin Tariq, a member of the royal family, died on the spot when his motorbike crashed in Al Dhait area in the early hours of Saturday.
The funeral prayer took place at Sheikh Zayed Mosque after Dhuhr prayer. Sheikh Saqr was laid to rest at the Al Qawasim Cemetery in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.
His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain attended the funeral prayer of Sheikh Saqr Bin Tariq at Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
Crown Princes, Sheikhs and dignitaries also attended the funeral prayers on the deceased.
He was the first to win the gold medal in jujitsu for Ras Al Khaimah Police in 2016.
The UAE Federation of Jiu-Jitsu mourned the death of Sheikh Saqr Bin Tariq Bin Kayed Al-Qasimi. The Federation extended its deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased, and asked Allah Almighty to grant mercy and place in paradise.
Rak2day, a social media site that runs stories on Rak and UAE said “A collision between a vehicle and a motorbike on Sheikh Rashid Street, resulting in the death of a person and injury of two people…”
The UAE is in an official three-day mourning period since Tuesday; flags flew at half-mast.
An Asian driver, 38, working as a security guard in an emirate, caused the vehicle of an Emirati family to swerve and overturn and as a result two Emirati brothers, 23 and 11, were dead and 4 ladies of the family were seriously injured on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road, said Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police.
The deceased worker was transferred to the morgue, while the injured were rushed to the hospital to receive the necessary medical assistance.
