Sheikh Sultan inspects progress of SCC elections

Sheikh Sultan praised the efforts exerted by officials, aiming to promote the success of the elections with access to the best practices. WAM

Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi stressed the importance of voters participating in the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) elections, highlighting their important role in promoting the development of government work and community service.

This came during Sheikh Sultan’s inspection on Thursday morning of the progress of the electoral process of the SCC elections at the Sharjah Chess Club.

During the visit, Sheikh Sultan emphasised the prominent role of parliamentary councils in achieving balance with other judicial and executive authorities, contributing in achieving integration between state institutions and assuring the public interest of all groups and individuals.

Sheikh Sultan also praised the efforts exerted by all committees and team members, aiming to promote the success of the elections with access to the best practices.

During his visit, the Sharjah Ruler was briefed on the mechanism used in the registration of voters and the stages of voting, in accordance with the best procedures that maintain the voters’ privacy and ensure providing them with all facilities.

Sheikh Sultan was also briefed on the voters’ turnout in the electoral centres in the cities and regions of the emirate and the services provided throughout the electoral process.

Concluding the visit, Sheikh Sultan inspected the main election monitoring situation room at the electoral centre in Sharjah City, through which all polling centres in the emirate are monitored and secured in coordination with all election committees and teams.

Separately, Sheikh Sultan on Thursday morning received a delegation from LandScape Magazine, which specialises in landscape architecture and urban development at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre in Al Darah.

The Ruler of Sharjah has repeatedly stressed Sharjah’s keenness to ensure all its projects are in accordance with environment-friendly standards and specifications.

During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan and the delegation discussed a number of topics related to engineering and caring for nature, highlighting the importance of various urban projects.

The delegation briefed the Ruler of Sharjah on the most important scientific and engineering topics covered by the magazine in its monthly publications, and lauded the distinctive urban development of the emirate of Sharjah, which reflects its cultural and scientific development.

At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan received an award for his contribution to the development of Sharjah, from the delegation. The award was launched by the magazine to honour important personalities for their contribution to developing landscape architecture, the best possible use of land, and civilian developments.

Recently, Sheikh Sultan received at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST), UAE astronauts Hazzaa Al Mansoori and Sultan Al Neyadi in the presence of Hamad Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and a group of the Centre’s employees.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan welcomed the astronauts and their accompanying delegation at SAASST, which is an academic platform to study and conduct scientific research in the fields of space and astronomy through a range of important scientific halls and laboratories.

Sheikh Sultan toured with the astronauts and attendees in the corridors of the Academy, which includes many scientific and astronomical exhibitions, and a large collection of unique meteorites being the largest, in terms of number in the world, where the collection consists of 8,000 pieces of meteorites of various types and sources.

Attendees were introduced to the most prominent activities and efforts carried out by the Academy through a detailed explanation about its scientific laboratories, experiments and studies, in addition to astronomical projects and scientific programs and the most prominent devices, observatories and Sharjah Planetarium modern.

The audience showed a Documentary film named “Deen Al Qayima,” written by the Ruler of Sharjah tells the story of how the universe was created by Allah Almighty from the moment of the Big Bang until the end of the universe.
