Mohamed meets children of martyrs, hails achievements

Children of martyrs expressed their happiness at meeting Sheikh Mohamed and noted that his words are a strong incentive for them to achieve excellence for the benefit of their country. WAM

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday met children of martyrs who have been performing exceptionally in academia.

Khalifa Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Executive Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Crown Prince’s Court, was also present.

During the meeting held at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed congratulated the students on their excellent educational and academic achievements and urged them to continue to exert more efforts to achieve the highest academic accomplishments.

He said, “It is my utmost happiness to meet with the distinguished students of our martyrs and I am proud of all their brilliant achievements. I thank their families for raising them and encouraging them to excel in their academic journeys.”

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi emphasised the desire of the UAE leadership to pay more attention and take care of the sons of the martyrs and provide them with all the possible support to achieve their future ambitions.

He also noted that supporting the children of martyrs is the duty of the leadership and all Emiratis in recognition of their great sacrifices, which are highly appreciated.

Also present at the meeting were Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region; Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination; Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Member of the Executive Council; Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council, and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; and Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance.

Recently, Executive Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office launched, in cooperation with the Sandooq Al Watan, the “Career Guidance Programme” for the children of Martyrs “Steps.”

The programme aims to provide outstanding students with the opportunity to explore choices for their future career paths and work environment challenges.

This launch of the programme was announced during the gathering organised by the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Arab Youth Centre in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier during the day, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated the winners of the Third Edition of the 60FT Dhow Dalma Race and underlined the importance of preserving the country’s time-honoured heritage.

This came as Sheikh Mohamed received the Race’s Higher Organising Committee and winners at Qasr Al Bahr on Monday where he hailed the efforts being made to ensure passing of the country’s national heritage on to generations to come.

“Protection of national heritage is an integral part of the country’s vision to strengthen the upcoming generations’ awareness of their national identity and various facets of heritage, including sports, arts, customs and traditions that identify the quintessential characteristics of the Emirati people across history,” Sheikh Mohamed added during the meeting which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region.

The committee’s members and winners thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the support provided for various heritage activities in the country, noting that the leadership’s growing interest in the preservation of heritage plays a key role in enhancing the millennials’ awareness of their national identity and values.

The Third Dalma Sailing Festival Dhow Race took place on the coast of Dalma Island and was organised by Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region. Up to 120 participants took part in the Dhs25 million event.
