3 competitions conclude at Ajman fest

More than 100 contestants of various nationalities participated in the competitions.

Held as part of Ajman Tourism Development Department’s (ATDD) Ajman Sea Festival and organised in cooperation with Dubai International Marine Club, the Jet Ski Drag Race, Flyboard Championship and Dragon Boat Race concluded. More than 100 contestants of various nationalities participated in the competitions at Marina 1 from Oct.25-26.

Saud Al Jasmi, Head of Events at ATDD, and Hezaim Al Gemzi, the Director of Dubai International Marine Club’s Sports/Race Department, honoured the winners of the three races. The total value of the prizes for the Drag Race, which was held in the UAE for the first time, was approximately Dhs92,000, while the prizes for the Flyboard Championship amounted to Dhs34,000, in addition ATDD honoured the competitors of Dragon Boat Race.

Saud Al Jasmi said, “ATDD attaches great importance to marine sports; they are very popular and they help to promote tourism in Ajman. The department was keen to offer a variety of marine activities and events during the Sea Festival including the UAE’s first Drag Race, which was organised in response to strong demand from fans.”

He added that before the start of the competitions, the Organising Committee provided contestants with information about the courses, detailed explanations of the regulations and reports on sea and wind conditions.

In the Professional Category of the Flyboard Championship, first place winner Manea Habib Al Marzouki, who was awarded Dhs10,000, followed by Mohammed Ishaq in second place which was awarded Dhs 7,000 and Majid Habib Al Marzouki in third place awarded Dhs5,000. In the Beginners Category, Salem Mohsen won first place, Jamal Al Janahi came in second place and Saif Sultan was the third-place winner.

In the Jet Ski Drag Race’s Super Stock Category, Salman Younis Al Awadi won first place and awarded Dhs20,000, Ali Al Lenjawi took second place awarded Dhs10,000 and Amer Abdulrazak Huwair came in third place and awarded Dhs5,000. In the Open Class Category, Salman Younis Al Awadi won first place and awarded with Seadoo Spark - JetSki, Mohammed Abdulghaffar Al Awadi came in second and awarded Dhs15,000, Ali Mohammed Al Lenjawi came in third place awarded Dhs7,000.

In the Dragon Boat Race, Titans 1 won first place in the Mixed Category, while Dragon and AUH Warriors won second place in the Women’s Category and Phoenix took third place in the Mixed Category (for men and women).
