The Ruler of Sharjah unveiled the curtain to mark the official opening of the College of Engineering and Science, where he then toured the building's scientific and research facilities, laboratories and classrooms.
Dr Sheikh Sultan listened to an explanation from the students about the most prominent researches and scientific experiments they conducted in the laboratories, which contributes to the link between theoretical sciences and practical applications and conduct experiments that serve human life.
The new four-storey building comprises 35 research and teaching laboratories, 24 classrooms, including seven smart classes, among other facilities.
The opening of the new college building is part of the university's plan to provide education at the highest levels in various fields of engineering and science.
The building takes into account environmental considerations in line with the University's commitment to the sustainability principles, the building received two certificates from the Pearl Rating System, the first system in the Arab world to evaluate the sustainability of all buildings and residential communities.
The new building, with its large and modern areas and diverse technologies, will contribute to the launch of new training programs in various fields.
The opening ceremony was attended by the heads of government departments in Sharjah and a number of members of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Sharjah, members of the administrative and teaching staff at the university.
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), chaired a meeting of the UoS’ Board of Trustees held at His Highness’ office at UoS on Tuesday.
The 2-day's conference shed lights on the most important issues in the medical and health fields and the latest practices, technologies, devices and advanced therapeutic methods in medicine and dentistry, in addition to focusing on the most important diseases facing the UAE community by holding discussions by different 40 researchers of doctors and scientists from the University of Sharjah, the UAE and the Germany.

This is evident via the accomplishments of its graduates, His Highness added.

A woman filed a lawsuit against a women’s salon in which she requested the court to obligate the salon to pay her Dhs100,000 in compensation for the burns she sustained by mistake when her nails were trimmed and decorated with acrylic. She said this substance was left on her fingers for a long period and consequently caused finger burns of second and third degrees.
The Water Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority completed the installation of a strategic water line extending for 56km from Hamda area to Al Badea area with a diameter of 800mm at a total cost of Dhs96 million, excluding the value of materials.
