Lebanese musician all set for Sharjah show

Michel-Fadel

Michel Fadel will take the centre-stage at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Nov.15.

Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah will once again come alive to the soulful strains of classical and modern compositions as leading Arabic music contemporaries converge at the Roman-style, open-air theatre to kick off the 2019-20 season of #letsmajaz.

From November 2019 to April 2020, the iconic cultural landmark will enthrall music lovers across the UAE as it gears up to host a galaxy of top artists from the Arab music world.

Acclaimed Lebanese musician Michel Fadel, renowned for his award-winning scores that merge Oriental music and classical traditions, will take the centre-stage at Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Nov.15 to wow the audience with his modern fusion presentation.

Michel’s new wave music will present an entirely original perspective on Arabic music. The chief pianist for Arab musical giant, Fairuz, Michel has also worked with virtually every well-known artist on the Arabian music scene.

Michel Fadel will be accompanied on stage by opera singer and tenor Marc Reaidy, soprano singer Rita Bou Saleh, R&B Soulster Denzel White and  Kiona McCullum.

Ukraine’s Kiev Virtuosi orchestra will accompany Fadel on stage under the baton of its Grammy-nominated conductor, Dmitry Yablonsky. This world-class Chamber orchestra rose to prominence in 2016 in its debut year following its participation in more than 100 concerts across Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Spain and Switzerland. Ukraine’s first independent orchestra embarked on its world tour early this year and has already performed in several South American countries.

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau and CEO of Al Majaz Amphitheatre, commented: “Once again, Al Majaz Amphitheatre will reverberate with the melodious offerings of a stellar array of Arab singers and musicians as they delight the audience with their extraordinary musical prowess. These celebrated artists will introduce various musical cultures to UAE audiences in keeping with the vibrant multiculturalism of Sharjah, the UAE and the region.”

He added: “Over the past few years, Al Majaz Amphitheatre has emerged as a distinct cultural and arts destination in the UAE, complementing Sharjah’s role as an incubator of all forms of arts and creativity. The annual #letsmajaz brings together a host of renowned artists, fans and music lovers to transform our nights with renditions of world-class music. We hope the new season will build on the successes of our previous editions and leave the audience with everlasting memories.”
