An Asian boy and his mother were run over by a car on Wednesday while they crossed a main street, due to speeding driving and the driver's lack of attention.

A tipoff was received on Wednesday by the Operations Room of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, about a runover accident on one of the main roads in Al Qasimia area.

Instantly after receiving the tipoff, traffic patrols and the national ambulance were rushed to the scene, where it was found the injured child was four years old, and his mother in her thirties.

Rescuers provided first aid to the injured and the child whose injuries were moderate was taken to Kuwait Hospital. The mother however was taken to the intensive care unit at Al Qasimi Hospital due to her severe injuries.

The incident file was referred to the competent police for further procedures.
