Al Majaz Waterfront is a key tourist attraction on Sharjah’s Khalid Lagoon.

In observation of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah — a tourist, family and leisure destination, has confirmed it will be bringing the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention’s ‘Etmenan’ campaign, to the destination on October 10, from 4:30 – 7:30 pm.

The campaign is being organised by the Ministry’s Primary Health Care Department, and will encompasses the provision of free medical tests, cancer awareness and preventions tips to visitors.

Al Majaz Waterfront’s facilities, walkways and musical fountain are being illuminated pink throughout October to raise breast cancer awareness and foster a culture of regular check-ups. The campaign will offer essential information highlighting the importance of early detection, prevention, symptoms and causes of cervical and breast cancer.

Al Majaz Waterfront will be offering free screenings and check-ups related to breast and cervical cancers, and tests for blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. The campaign aims to encourage people to take the necessary steps to ensure early detection. A recent study conducted by the American Cancer Society (ACS) indicates that breast cancer comprises as much as 25 per cent of all new cancer cases in women globally, which makes raising awareness more important than ever.

Marwa Obaid Al Shamsi, General Manager of Al Majaz Waterfront, said: “Our participation in this event is in line with our social responsibility to ensure the continued wellbeing of our community by raising their health awareness, cancer in particular, given the seriousness that the disease can reach if it goes undetected.” Al Shamsi has encouraged residents and visitors in Sharjah and the UAE to partake in the Etmenan campaign, not only to get themselves checked, but, to support a significant cause aimed at raising community awareness about the fact that early detection of cancer can save lives.

Al Majaz Waterfront is a popular leisure destination among UAE’s residents, and a key tourist attraction on Sharjah’s Khalid Lagoon. It hosts a variety of artistic and entertainment activities through the year, including film screenings, stage shows, and is considered one of the best organisers of the UAE’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

An eclectic mix of local and international food and beverage outlets, including Al Fanar Restaurant & Café, Pizzaro, Sutis, TGI Friday’s, Zahr El-Laymoun, Caribou Coffee, Shakespeare and Co, Tim Hortons café, Cold Stone and Zaroob, Al Rawi Café, Amorino Gelato Café, Ushna Restaurant, Levantine, Elli Café, Fruit Gang, Molten Chocolate, Jelly Belly, and Dunkin Café, is flanked by the lagoon on one side and some the city’s most stunning architecture on the other.
