Represented by the Traffic and Patrol Department, the Sharjah Police General Directorate have organised an awareness-raising lecture in both Arabic and Urdu language, aiming to put a limit to pedestrians crossing from undesignated areas.

The organisation of the lecture came as part of the Sharjah Police’s aim to achieve the strategic objective of the Ministry of Interior to make the roads safer for all road users.

The lecture targeted almost 2,000 workers of the Sharjah Municipality, and was part of a series of awareness-raising lectures organised by Sharjah Police General Directorate for 10 continuous days. The Directorate seeks to spread awareness on safe road-crossing for employees of the Municipality, and aims to notify workers about the importance of reporting the law-breaking action of crossing from undesignated areas.

Lt Colonel Abdulrahman Khater, Director of Traffic Awareness and Media Department, was a spokesman in the organised lecture, along with other specialised officers, in which he highlighted various awareness and security points that motivate workers’ sense of security and guide them to take right actions in different situations.

Recently, represented by the character of the “young policeman”, the Media and Public Relations Department at Sharjah Police organised a number of field visits to the Sharjah International Private School, National Charity School in Ajman, Albraeem Kindergarten, and Al Falah’s Kindergarten, in an aim to offer proper guidance and advice for all students.

The visit came as part of the Sharjah Police General Directorate’s keenness to communicate with all educational institutions in the Emirate, and spread security awareness among students, which came within the frame of the security programmes under the supervision of the Community Police Department. The set programmes include cultural, awareness-raising and entertainment programmes for all students.

The programmes included a series awareness-raising lectures and different educational instructions, presented through illustration of safety and security rules, and means of school transportation.

Lectures were divided according to the different age groups of students, and security messages were simplified and explained to young children about traffic rules. The students also participated in a number of friendly competitions that were set by the “young policeman” character, in an attempt to create an atmosphere of joy among students.
