Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) launched the fourth edition of Ajman Run 2019 at Al Zorah on Friday in collaboration with Al Qudra Sports Services. Participants included more than 900 male and female runners of various ages from around the UAE, representing 57 nationalities.

The participants competed in a variety of categories, including a 2.5km race, a 5km race, a 10km race and a race for people of determination, at this community sports event, which reflected the UAE’s tolerance.

The event was attended by Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, ATDD Director General. One hundred and seventeen winners were presented with cash and prizes.

Government departments, private organisations and different community groups participated in the Run, part of ATDD’s strategy to organise activities and events of all kinds in order to diversify Ajman’s tourism offerings.

Saleh Al Geziry said, “The Ajman Run has become an important event on ATDD’s calendar after its great success in generating public interest and participation in the last two years. This reflects Ajman’s ability to host and organise various sporting, leisure and cultural activities and events as a result of its developed infrastructure and facilities and experienced organisers.

“The diverse range of events and activities organised in Ajman boosts the tourism and leisure sectors and strengthens Ajman’s status as a destination for domestic and international tourists. We will continue to offer such popular events to sustain tourism in Ajman throughout the year,” added Al Geziry, who thanked the organisers, supporters and sponsors for contributing to the success of this year’s Run.

In cooperation with Al Qudra Sports Services, ATDD has organised five races for the 2019-2020 season.
