Xposure 2019 unveils 5 outdoor exhibitions

The outdoor exhibitions present a total of 89 images.

The International Photography Festival (Xposure 2019), now in its fourth year, has unveiled five outdoor exhibitions across popular malls and public venues in Dubai and Sharjah, in its bid to continue offering the very best of modern photography to the UAE public on its prestigious platform.

The venues include Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre and Mirdif City Centre in Dubai, and the Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah.

The outdoor exhibitions present a total of 89 of the some of the finest images captured by a selection of world-renowned photographers and promising emerging talents, in addition to works that have been brought in by international professional photography organisations.

The offerings: Available for public viewing for two weeks until Sept.22, the picturesque Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah will be home to 45 more works brought in by the World Press Photo.

The showcase includes works by a collection of winning images from the 62nd World Press Photo Contest.

The annual photo contest rewards photographers for the best single exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism.

The Dubai outdoor exhibitions will feature a selection of 44 riveting images, which have been picked from 1,166 photographs by 357 lensmen curated by the festival’s indoor exhibitions this year.

Running across the themes of nature & landscape, portrait & people, architectural, photojournalism, mobile photography and night photography, many of the works have never before been shown in the UAE. Art and photography enthusiasts must make the most of this once-a-year opportunity to take in the sights of some of the most brilliant photography of our times.

Hosted by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) at Expo Centre Sharjah from Sept.19-22, 2019, Xposure 2019 will also see the addition of several new attractions such as the launch of two new categories titled “Night Photography” and “Portrait and People” and “Mobile Photography” and “Nature and Landscape.”

A couple of months ago announcing the details of the fourth edition of Xposure, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, had said: “In keeping with Sharjah’s tradition, we have been striving to make our events and offerings more interesting year after year. In this edition of Xposure, in addition to our regular and most popular competition categories, we are introducing four new categories.
