Asian national killed after vehicle slams into truck

An Asian was killed on Sunday morning after his vehicle collided with a truck on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road leading to Sharjah.

According to a report received by the operations room of the Central Region Comprehensive Police Station, a collision took place between a vehicle and a truck on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road near Mleiha. Traffic patrols and national ambulance rushed to the scene of the accident. It was found that the accident took place when the vehicle swerved abruptly after the driver had lost control of the vehicle to hit a truck on the same road. The driver was killed on the spot after sustaining severe brain haemorrhage and was admitted to Al Qasimi Hospital.

In another development, an Asian boy sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a main road in Al Nahda in Sharjah on Saturday.

The operations room of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters received a report at 9pm on Saturday that an Asian boy, 16, was hit by a vehicle in Al Nahda.

The national ambulance rushed to the scene of the accident and found that the driver of the vehicle that hit the boy had sped away and had not waited for the traffic patrols and national ambulance.

The injured boy was taken to the emergency section of Al Qasimi Hospital where he underwent a surgical operation as a result of sustaining serious injuries including fractures in the shoulder bones. He was later admitted to the intensive care unit.

Earlier, an Asian worker sustained moderate burns in his face when caustic acid spurted from a vehicle battery he was trying to close tightly during his work at a car wash station in Sharjah on Tuesday.

A national ambulance rushed to the place of the incident and took the injured man to the emergency section of Al Qasimi Hospital, where the medical team on duty conducted necessary medical examinations on him.
