Authorities ramped up evacuations, airlines cancelled flights and flood gates slammed shut as the National Hurricane Center forecast the strengthening storm would reach hurricane status on Saturday.
The storm's top sustained winds decreased slightly to 170 mph (275 kph) as its westward movement slowed, crawling along Grand Bahama island early Monday at 2 mph (4 kph) in what forecasters said would be a daylong assault.
Hurricane Dorian roared Sunday towards the Bahamas as the island chain braced for a devastating direct hit, before the monster storm churns up the US coast from Florida towards the Carolinas.
The US Geological Survey said the quake was centered about 33 kilometres (20 miles) from Gaziantep, a major city and provincial capital. It was centered 18 kilometres (11 miles) deep, and a strong 6.7 aftershock rumbled about 10 minutes later.
It said the targets of the raid were suspected of an attempted attack on a restaurant in the Israeli settlement of Vered Yeriho on Jan. 28. The Palestinian health ministry said three people had been wounded, one critically but it gave no details on any dead.
Suspect had a criminal record and was jailed pending a case of illegal trade in foreign exchange outside the banking market at black market prices.
