Labour camp dealing in illegal activities raided

As a result of these campaigns, a labour camp was found converted into a store for selling used clothing. The municipality teams also seized a vehicle loaded with prohibited materials and smuggled cigarettes in the early hours of the morning.
According to Khalifa Bu Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Head of Municipal Inspection Department at Sharjah Municipality, a labour camp was converted into a store for selling old garments in random markets. More than 3.5 tonnes of old garments were seized in a proactive action against those who took advantage of holidays to sell garments in such markets, he said.
Al Suwaidi said that prohibited materials intended to be sold in markets were also seized from the labour camp, adding that necessary measures were immediately taken against the camp’s owner and the sellers. All seized materials were confiscated and was destroyed in collaboration with Sharjah Beeah Sharjah Environment Company.
The inspection teams were also able to seize a vehicle loaded with prohibited materials and smuggled cigarettes intended to be sold in the early hours of the morning, he said.
In an unrelated case, the Kalba Court of First Instance adjourned to August 27 issuance of its verdict regarding the bullying video case in which 4 primary school students of a Kalba school and their parents were charged.
During a secret session held on Tuesday, the defence lawyer gave his final pleading in the presence of all defendants. Earlier, the public prosecution charged the four students including two brothers with assaulting and insulting a student. It also charged their parents with negligence.
The victim’s father filed a complaint in which he said a group of students assaulted his son by beating him in the face and other parts of his body inside the school bus, adding that one of them took a video of the assault and posted it on the social media. The video was condemned by the members of the society.
