A new world record has been set for the world’s steepest street record in North Wales.

Harlech, a town in North Wales is home to Ffordd Pen Llech Street, which is the new world’s steepest street.

The slope which curls round the town reaches 37.45% over fall, which makes people travelling on the street go 1m up or (down) per 2.67m travelled horizontally.

The record of the streets beats the Baldwin Street in Dunedin, New Zealand. Baldwin held the world steepest street record for more than a decade.

It took a while for the street to be verified by an expert surveyor, because Guinness standards need the street to be completely flat with buildings along the way.

Since it was named the world’s steepest street, it has become a tourist attraction for visitors in the town.
