A prolific thunderstorm in Eastbourne, a resort town on England, on Wednesday night saw lightning strike around 1,000 times in one hour.

Skies over the seaside town were lit up repeatedly during a storm that spread across large parts of the South East and saw over 40mm of rain fall in some places.

The surge of electricity from the lightning caused some problems with power cuts affecting many houses and traffic lights being knocked out.
