The Abu Dhabi Public Services Company, Musanada, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport (ADTA), is implementing a highway project linking the southern region of Umm Lafina Island to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street with a length of 5 kilometres and at a cost of Dhs734,457,000.

The project includes the construction of two bridges, the installation of lighting, drainage networks, communications, water lines and rain drainage.

The work will be completed according to the development plan in the second quarter of 2020.

The project is part of the road projects to be launched by the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi in the island of Umm Lafina, with a length of 10,5 kilometres. It includes five bridges and other road works, including four kilometers above water.

The project implementers will carry out a number of safety measures to preserve appearance and the environment.

Arch-shaped concrete tiles are used to improve mobility and minimise any impact on mangroves in the area, ensure water flow through the transfer of trees, and cultivate twice the number of trees expected to be damaged during the implementation.

The project is part of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Plan, lining with the emirate’s continuous economic and tourism development. It links the island of Abu Dhabi with the islands of Al Reem and Umm Lafina. It also contributes to enhancing the flow of traffic and improving the safety of road users.

Recently, Musanada announced that the nearly Dhs58 million Al Aryam Bridge Interchange project on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed international highway has been completed in cooperation with the Department of Transport, DoT, in Abu Dhabi.

Considered as one of the vital projects that aim to develop and improve the main road network in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, this project connects Al Aryam island located 60km from Abu Dhabi city to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed international highway, facilitating inbound and outbound traffic at all directions.
