An Emirati woman, 19, sustained moderate injuries when the vehicle she was in overturned and hit palm trees in a farm.

The woman was with her husband enjoying the spectacular rain sights in Al Bithnah, 15 kilometres to the west of Fujairah City.

According to Brigadier Dr Ali Rashid Bin Awash Al Yamahi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police, the husband stopped the vehicle in a sloping area on the edge of the valley without pulling the handbrake and got out of the vehicle to take a panoramic picture of the valley.

The vehicle on the slope, however, began to roll until it fell into a farm at the bottom of the valley.

The woman was taken to the Fujairah Hospital for medical treatment.

FAKE CURRENCIES

The Sharjah Criminal Court heard a case in which two Asians were charged with offering counterfeit foreign currencies for sale to pedestrians.

They were also charged with assaulting a policeman who was trying to arrest them when one of them pushed him to the ground and he was hit by a passing car.

According to the official records, the police received a report that two defendants were offering counterfeitt liras for sale to the public in an area across the emirate. A security team was formed and a trap was set to arrest the defendants.

In the meantime, one of the defendants clashed with the investigative agents of Sharjah Police and pushed him to the ground to be hit by a car on the main street.

Later, the two defendants were brought under control.

The defendants, however, denied the charges levelled against them, alleging that they were in Dubai on the date of the incident.
