Shams provides a high level of innovative services in a safe and vibrant ecosystem, said Sultan Bin Ahmed.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council, attended the community open day of Sharjah Media City (Shams), organised by Shams in the presence of a number of licensed companies, senior officials of government authorities and agencies in Sharjah and a group of local and media representatives. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi met representatives of the licensed companies who presented the services offered by Shams before different business and innovation sectors.

Shams has become a world-class hub for innovation within an integrated city which is able to achieve excellence and creativity. It is an innovative free zone that offers over 120 business activities and provides the flexibility to combine different activities on the same license.

Chairman of Sharjah Media Council said “Sharjah Media City (Shams) offers facilities, flexible legal framework, general and logistic services to investors. We have been informed of that during the meeting with representatives of the licensed companies. Shams provides unique services to investors from across the world and high level of innovative services in a safe and vibrant ecosystem for entrepreneurs to set up their business.”

Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams), presented the leading projects carried out by Sharjah Media City, including the “Emirati Entertainment Experience, Shams Digital Solutions Platform and Shams Media Training Arm”, in addition to a number of future projects. He said that Shams is one of the leading free smart cities dedicated to investment in media and innovative industries, offering forward-thinking and innovative concepts. It has the mission to make creative entrepreneurship accessible and to foster a vibrant and connected ecosystem for innovators to live, learn and co-create.  

“Shams nurtures talents working in media and creative industries and seeks regional leadership in education and training as well as in supporting and developing creative high-quality media content. We provide a creative-friendly environment and a sustainable and attractive zone with world class infrastructure available at reasonable costs, to enable SMEs and entrepreneurs engage in creative and media industries,” said Al Midfa.

Shams’ key role as a free zone is to provide all the facilities and safe opportunities to investors within an attractive environment, and to serve as a turning point in the concept of free zone and a model of integrated and innovative smart free cities, which nurture media talents and open the door for SMEs in media and associated industries.

Shams uses new concepts in terms of speed, performance and procedures and targets media and investment communities from across the world, offering them facilities, attractive regulations, logistic and general services.

Recently, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi stated that embarking on adventures strengthens the will and determination of individuals and introduces them to new cultures.

The challenges overcome during the journey unleash energy and teach important skills.

He pointed out the importance of time management and balancing life and work, by taking on hobbies that contribute to self-discovery and refinement of creative skills.

His comments were made while participating in “A Meeting with an Influencer” organised by Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah on April 29 (Monday).

During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed announced the launch of a competition for youth aged between 13-18 years to encourage them to develop a healthy appetite for adventure. Participants must submit a 5-minute video clip of them undertaking a challenging adventure. Three winners will receive prizes and will be interviewed on Sharjah TV.

The event hosts Emirati inspirational personalities, offering youth an opportunity to meet them and learn lessons from their life experiences and the challenges they have faced.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed stressed that no matter how many trips each person goes on, one must conduct himself in a good manner reflecting a bright image of his country.

He shared with the young attendees from Sajaya glimpses of his life and how he had started his career after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Arkansas University, USA and a master’s degree in Computer Information Systems, from the University of Detroit Mercy, USA.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed said that his first job had been with the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) before he moved to work at the Sharjah Commerce and Development Authority (SCTDA). Apart from being the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, he is also the Chairman of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) (formerly the Sharjah Media Corporation), in addition to holding other positions.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also spoke about the adventures he has experienced while discovering the secrets of nature and its beauty around the world with a team of friends which included Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of SBA, Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) and Mohammad Marzooq.

Through an interesting video clip, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed shared with the young participants the details of four adventures he had undertaken with his team over the last four years.
