ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has emerged as the 9th most popular world leader with over 9.4 million followers on social networking website Twitter.
The premier is at the 9th most followed world leaders on Twitter, according to Spectator Index, a website that displays statistics and international rankings from the fields of politics, economics, history, military affairs, sports, science and technology.
While followers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz, daughter of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif were 5.06 million, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has 3.24 million followers.
The number one spot has been secured by US President Donald Trump who has a total of 59.5 million followers.
Imran was popular even before coming into power, the last year spectator Index placed him at 7th spot with 8.17 million Twitter followers which after taking the premiership has shot up to 9.4 million followers.

Before and after becoming the prime minister, Imran Khan has been frequently using the Twitter to disseminate his messages for his followers and party workers. After he took oath as the premier on
August 18 last year, he has been using the micro-blogging site not very often.
His opponents have been objecting to his Twitter use and say that the government can’t be run through such a website.
