Overspeeding teenager killed in car crash

Investigations showed that overspeeding and lack of concentration led to the accident.

KHOR FAKKAN: A 14-year-old Emirati teen was killed in a car accident, in an internal road in Al Haray, Khor Fakkan at 5.20am, on Wednesday. The girl was driving her parents’ vehicle, and overspeeding. She did not hold a driving licence and took the vehicle without parents’ knowledge.

On being alerted, the police and ambulance rushed to the scene, and saw the seriously injured girl. She was rushed to Khor Fakkan Hospital. The teenager however succumbed to her injuries.

Investigations showed that overspeeding and lack of concentration led the vehicle to swerve, hit the pavement and settle off the road.

Separately, the Fujairah Court sentenced three suspects to death, two of whom are GCC nationals, while the fourth was acquitted.

The four suspects were charged with indecent assault and detention.

The four suspects were serving a sentence in a penal institution for crimes they had committed.

The victim was a cleaner, and was tasked with cleaning the defendants’ room.

The first suspect connived with the second and third in detaining the victim and assaulting him.

The victim filed a report and the four suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution, and the victim was sent to a forensic doctor. The result was in support of the incident and the camera installed inside the penal institution revealed the victim was forcibly dragged into the suspects’ room.

The prosecution sent the suspects to court that sentenced them to execution.

In another development, the Criminal Court of Fujairah sentenced an Asian to death on charges of murdering the wife of a UAE national, in her forties, in the White Village in Al Faseel area of Fujairah.

The defendant murdered the victim and wounded her two children and the maid with a knife.

Investigators and the forensics team found that the victim, her 11-year-old son, her nine-year-old daughter and the 29-year-old maid were stabbed with a sharp tool, causing the death of the woman due to her injuries.

A security team was formed to follow up on the case and find the culprit, who was identified in less than half an hour.
