SHARJAH: A unique celebration of the UN World Water Day took place at Al Majaz Park in Sharjah, organised by the Skyline University College, who collaborated with Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), Sharjah Municipality, Shurooq Al Majaz, Cool & Cool, Bee’ah, Zulal, and IFFCO.

Skyline University has been celebrating World Water Day for 80 continuous years as part of its CRS efforts to promote awareness and draw attention to the pressing issues that concern the limited access to water in multiple communities around the world.

Activities such as recycling craft, water rationing exercise/water animation, poster design, and skit competitions were organised for all age groups in line with this year’s theme “Leaving No One Behind.” Furthermore, one of the highlights of the event was the pledging of kids to conserve water by making every drop count.

Multiple schools have actively participated in the event such as Star Private School, Nibras Al Iman School, British International School (Campus 1 and Campus 2), Delhi Private School, and Leaders Private School Sharjah.

Prof. Mohammad In’airat, Dean of Skyline University College, stressed on the importance of such an event in teaching the value of environmental sustainability and water conservation to the young generation. “The purpose of this event is to increase awareness about the importance of water and teach everyone how we can conserve water, not only for us but for future generations,” said Dean In’airat.

Prof. In’airat pointed out the importance of organising such an event, saying that “without water, we cannot live.” Moreover, he also mentioned that such a unique event will be organised yearly as it has become one of SUC’s core and major events, following their belief in sustainability for the benefit of the upcoming generation.

Among the attendees who graced the event were Majid Abu Khatir, General Secretary, Municipal Council of Sharjah; Sultan Al Hashmi, Director of Communication, Sharjah Municipality; Ali Ahmed Ali, Director of Zulal, Sewa;  Mariam Ali Al Musharakh, Head of Exhibition and Events Section, Corporate Interaction Department, Sharjah Municipality; and Ali Hasan Ibrahim of the Conservation Department of Sewa.
