New Pak CG to assume office next month

DUBAI: The Pakistan Consulate in Dubai and Northern Emirates will be getting a new Consul General as the post is currently being held by the Head of Chancellery.
Ahmed Amjad Ali, the new CG, will resume his duties next month to replace Javed Hassan who has completed his term while Ahmed Shami has been overseeing as acting Consul General.
An official told The Gulf Today on Wednesday that the new CG, after completing his tenure in Bradford, UK, has been assigned by the government to take over the charge of the Dubai Consulate, one of the important and busy missions in terms of community and trade activities. “One such huge trade event is Expo 2020 in which a number of Pakistani companies will participate while the growing stable relationships between the two governments are also on the table,” the official said.
The press section in Dubai has confirmed that the newly appointed Consul General will take charge of the mission in the first week of February.
Salamat Ali, a long-time expatriate, told The Gulf Today said that “the major challenge for the new CG will be the supervision of official tasks and making sure to provide suitable help for Pakistani firms in trade exhibitions. But more important is to take serious measures for over the three-decade old building of the current consulate which needs expansion to accommodate more visitors coming daily to seek different consular services,” he added.
