Rumy Al Qahtani becomes first Saudi woman to participate in Miss Universe

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that the country will be participating in the Miss Universe pageant for the first time with fashion model Rumy Al Qahtani.

Rumy Al Qahtani will write her name in history as the first Saudi woman to participate in the Miss Universe competition. The global event will be held in Mexico on Sept.28, 2024.

Qahtani’s participation is considered a milestone in the process of empowering Saudi women, as she has previously represented the Kingdom in many international competitions, such as Miss Asia in Malaysia, Miss Arab Peace, and Miss Europe, carrying the banner of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in international forums.

Who is Rumy Al Qahtani?

Qahtani is a 29-year-old model from Saudi Arabia. She has participated in many beauty contests and fashion shows.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in dentistry, and is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.

Qahtani said in a post on her Instagram account with her over a million followers, “I am honoured to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This is the first appearance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the competition.”
