When Steve Jobs, the iconic co-founder of Apple, invented the iconic iPhone with his team, little could anyone imagine that it would simply be in the world’s pocket. An iPhone has morphed into more than just a status symbol, it has become a must-have all over the planet. Even in India, thousands of miles away from the mobile phone’s birthplace. However, a government official there did the unthinkable when he dropped his iPhone in a reservoir: he drained water out of it for four days till he found the phone! The public servant has been suspended for his act.

Rajesh Vishwas, a food inspector, was enjoying a trip with his friends when he accidentally dropped his Apple iPhone, valued at Rs 1.5 lakh, in the Paralkot reservoir in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh state. The group desperately searched for the phone in the water but in vain.

Then Vishwas, in an act of vain self-importance, installed pumps to empty the reservoir. About 4 million litres of water were drained out, according to a report in a section of the Indian media. The operation went on for four days after which, lo and behold, he found the gadget on the reservoir bed.
