Social networking sites in Turkey were abuzz with a video clip showing the famous Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, nicknamed Salt Bae, visiting his mother at her home after a break of more than two years.

Nusret faced a torrent of harsh criticism because of the modest house in which his mother lives, knowing that the famous Turkish chef, 38, has a fortune estimated at tens of millions of dollars, and owns a chain of luxury restaurants.

A video clip showed the reunion.

Nusret published the video on his Instagram account, and said that he had not seen her for two years, while the mother's house seemed modest.

The clip garnered millions of views and thousands of comments within a few hours, most of which focused on blaming the Turkish chef for the modest house in which his mother resides.

One of Nusret's followers commented: "You have a lot of money, so how can your mother not live in a mansion? What a shame. Do something for her. It is very unfortunate to see her son have all this money and not visit her and let her stay in a house like this."

Nusret is famous for selling expensive meat steak, which is sometimes coated with edible gold, and a steak he prepared has previously been sold for more than 1,400 pounds in one of his restaurants in the British capital, London.
