American model of Palestinian origin, Gigi Hadid, separated from the famous singer husband Zayn Malik after the latter allegedly hit her mother during an argument between them.

Sources close to the family told PEOPLE magazine, which is interested in celebrity news, the separation of model Gigi Hadid and British singer Zayn Malik took place after a heated argument with Yolanda Hadid.

According to the source, the couple, despite their separation, will maintain a special relationship for their 13-month-old daughter.

Zayn denied in a statement all that was said about his assault on Gigi Hadid's mother, stressing that he had exchanged "harsh words" with her.

He added in a statement posted on Twitter: "What happened did not involve more than an exchange of harsh words, and I strongly reject that I hit her. I also refuse, for the sake of my daughter, to mention any other details, with the hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations."

Zayn Malik called Yolanda Hadid to "move to address family issues in private" and then hinted at the separation, saying that he would "share" Gigi with their daughter, meaning that they would not be together anymore.

It is noteworthy that Gigi Hadid, 26, married 28-year-old Zayn Malik in 2015, and gave birth to her only daughter, Khai, in September 2020.
