A senior police inspector in the Indian city of Nagpur, in a humanitarian gesture, paid off a Rs2,000 fine for an autorickshaw driver after he learned that driver had brought money from his child's piggy bank to free the rickshaw (Tuk-Tuk).

Nagpur City Police wrote on Twitter: "Police Inspector Ajay Malviya has paid a fine of Rs 2,000 out of his own pocket."

According to the police, the autorickshaw driver, Rohit Khadse, was stopped for parking an autorickshaw in a no-parking area, and a fine of 2,000 rupees was issued, and because he could not pay the fine, the police impounded the vehicle.

The rickshaw is the only way to earn a living for Khadse, who is unable to pay the fine himself, and brought the coins from his son's piggy bank to the police. However, the police refused to accept the amount because it was incomplete and in coins, local media reported.

Inspector Malviya was moved by Khadse's tears as he cried, asking him to return the rickshaw.

The policeman noticed the plastic bag of money in his hand and asked him about the story of the bag and the money, and upon learning about the financial situation of the driver, Malviya returned the boy's money and paid the fine himself.

Malviya’s move was praised on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "Deserves a job as Inspector Malviya and shows the true side of it."

Another said, "An excellent example of discipline and humanity."
