There are two kinds of employees in this world: one who are very captious, constantly complaining about their work and petty issues, but are work shirkers. They gossip a lot, are very mediocre and to cover up their professional weakness, believe in flattering their bosses.

The other category is the quiet, industrious type, who beaver away at their task without as much as a murmur. They do not believe in unnecessary office politics, canvassing support for their cause, or have an axe to grind against anyone: on the other hand, they are very helpful and get along well with their colleagues.

Productivity hinges on several factors, diligence is definitely one of them. There are other factors that matter, particularly a fair measure of independence to operate, cooperative colleagues, and above all, an understanding, amiable boss who does not believe in bullying his or her subordinates.

Lack of harassment is extremely important for performance to improve. A nasty boss will keep badgering his or her staff simply because either he or she either intrinsically loves to do so, is sadistic or is prompted by sycophants.

A congenial atmosphere at the workplace will definitely lead to one thing: loyalty to the company he or she is working for.

In fact, loyalty to the company dramatically improves performance, as a survey has revealed.

Bayt.com, the top site for job seekers in the Middle East, undertook the ‘Employee Loyalty in the Mena Survey.

It tied up with YouGov, the global online market research company, to ascertain the key factors driving employee loyalty towards the workplace.

Data revealed that nearly two-thirds of employees (64%) in the UAE feel loyal to their current employer. Only 16% reported not feeling loyal, while the  rest were neutral.

Loyal employees who are very involved in their work and are highly satisfied at the workplace are the bulwark, the strong foundation of a business.

Seventy-five per cent of the employees  (75%) feel proud when discussing their firm’s products and services, and over 60 per cent would recommend their firm to potential recruits.

As far as rewards for the company are concerned, loyal staffers are very productive, extremely creative and lead to minimal costs. Employers can expect better work quality from such staff, who do not mind going the extra mile and believe in increased productivity.
