Kashmir's cold wave in full swing: Gulmarg freezes at -7.5˚C

Extreme cold conditions continue unabated in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region on Saturday as the valley braces for another spell of rain and snow is likely to begin on Monday.

"Another spell of light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur in J&K and Ladakh on Jan.4 and 5. Till then, the present cold wave will continue in both the regions," an official of the MET department said.

The ongoing 40-day long period of harsh winter the 'Chillai Kalan' will end on January 31.

Srinagar recorded -5.9˚C, Pahalgam -8.4˚C and Gulmarg -7.5˚C as the minimum temperatures of the day, according to a local media report.

Leh town of Ladakh was at -19.2˚C and Kargil at -16.2˚C.

Jammu city was at 5.5˚C, Katra 5.2˚C, Batote 0.5˚C, Bannihal -1.2˚C and Bhaderwah recorded -2.1˚C  as the minimum temperatures.
