Expect no more ruff days in the White House, for President-elect Joe Biden will be bringing doggos back into his soon-to-be official residence for the first time in four years.
Although the White House has had plenty of dogs during stints of various presidents over the years, it was pet-free during Trump’s tenure.
Mr Biden owns two German Shepherds, Champ and Major, who he and his wife Jill adopted from the Delaware Humane Association in November 2018, 10 years after they purchased Champ from a breeder.
Major belongs to a litter of six other German Shepherds puppies who were rescued and given "life-saving medical care" after exposure to "something toxic in their home," a Delaware Humane Association news release said at the time of adoption.
Following Mr Biden’s inauguration, Champ and Major will accompany the Bidens to Washington, with Major’s arrival making history — the first time a rescue dog has lived in the White House.
At the time that the Bidens adopted Major, they released a statement welcoming him to the family.
“We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals,” the couple said.
Champ and Major have frequently featured on the Bidens’ social media pages, including special appearances in the run-up to the US election.
In October, he shared a video of himself stroking Major on Instagram alongside the caption: “No ruff days on the trail when I have some Major motivation.”
In the short clip, Major can be seen licking Mr Biden’s face.
The White House lashed out at respected diplomat William Taylor after his testimony in the House impeachment investigation this week. Its reaction was unequivocal, insulting — and dead wrong.

Everyone’s favorite alleged sex offender Matt Gaetz has reassured us that if Donald Trump doesn’t step up again in 2024, he’s willing to take on the mantle. In a text message to the New York Post (yes, that’s right), he wrote on Wednesday that “I support
Former Vice President Joe Biden is trying to reassure voters. Like former President Obama, he is promising that “If you like your health plan, your employer-based plan, you can keep it.” Don’t bet on it. Some presidential candidates support directly outlawing private health plans, and replacing them with a single-payer, government-run health plan.
