The Criminal Court of Fujairah sentenced an Asian to death.

FUJAIRAH: The Criminal Court of Fujairah sentenced an Asian to death on charges of murdering the wife of UAE national, in her forties, in the White Village in Al Faseel area of Fujairah.

The defendant murdered the wife and wounded her two children and the maid with a knife.

Investigators and the forensics team found that the deceased wife, her 11-year-old son, nine-year-old daughter and the 29-year-old maid were stabbed with a sharp tool, causing the death of the woman due to her injuries.

The department then worked on finding the killer, and caught him in less than half an hour.

On being interrogated, the defendant admitted the crime and fled.

He was referred to the Public Prosecution and was charged with murder, attempted murder and theft, and was then referred to the Criminal Court.

The court ordered submitting him to medical examination and the medical report affirmed his mental and psychological states were good.

Fire guts yacht

The firefighters from Dubai Civil Defence contained a fire that broke out in a yacht in Dubai Marina on Tuesday afternoon.

 No casualties were reported, said an official source.

The operations room at the Civil Defence was alerted on Tuesday at 3pm.

The firefighters were dispatched to the scene and controlled the fire in nearly 10 minutes, the source added.

The yacht was small and contained nothing, making it easy to control the fire, he said.

The marine accident index in Dubai is rare due to the safety and prevention conditions in the boats imposed by the General Directorate of Civil Defence in cooperation with all concerned parties to standardise procedures.
