ABU DHABI: As part of Abu Dhabi Art’s year-round programme, Galleries at MAS will take place next month giving first-time collectors and art enthusiasts the chance to purchase affordable artwork.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) event, which starts with an opening reception on 8 April and runs until 8 June at Manarat Al Saadiyat (MAS), will provide an introduction into how to buy art while offering an accessible way for residents to discover and engage with the art world.

It will see 10 of Abu Dhabi Art’s regular participating galleries presenting photography and paintings for sale at prices ranging from Dhs 350 to Dhs 15,000, as well as limited edition prints and paintings by established artists such as Abdul Qader Al Rais, Hassan Hajjaj and Zhivago Duncan.

“Following two successful iterations at Warehouse421 under the name ‘Galleries Week’, we are pleased to introduce our third edition in its new extended form, under the name ‘Galleries at MAS’,” said Dyala Nusseibeh, Director of Abu Dhabi Art.

“As part of DCT Abu Dhabi, Manarat Al Saadiyat occupies a crucial place as a creative focal point for the emirate as well as being the venue for our main fair in November, so it is the perfect venue to host our year-round outreach to the community.

Galleries at MAS is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in art.

We have invited galleries to extend their exhibitions for two months this year, which allows them to build up their presence in the city outside of the fair dates.

“Galleries at MAS is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in art, whether they are planning to be a collector, are keen to learn more about the vibrant art scene in Abu Dhabi, or want to connect with artists and galleries and discover emerging talent.”

The galleries participating in this year’s Galleries at MAS are: Etihad Modern Art Gallery and Salwa Zeidan Gallery from Abu Dhabi; Cuadro Fine Art Gallery, Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde, Hunar Gallery, Meem Gallery and The Third Line from Dubai; Hafez Gallery from Jeddah; Zawyeh Gallery from Ramallah; and Gallery Lee & Bae from Seoul. Abu Dhabi Art’s community partner, Zayed University, will be participating by offering its students’ artwork for sale.

Galleries at MAS will also include talks, performances, tours and workshops throughout the exhibition period in collaboration with MAS. Further information about the exhibition programme for Galleries at MAS will be released during its opening week.

The event is open from 9am to 8pm at Gallery A in Manarat Al Saadiyat. Its first week will coincide with Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2019, which is taking place at the same location from 7 to 11 April.
