The esteemed Egyptian actor Abdel Aziz Makhyoun passed away at the age of 80 on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026, after suffering a severe health setback in recent days, which necessitated his transfer to a hospital in Alexandria and his placement under intensive medical care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The deceased’s family announced the news of his death, adding that the funeral prayer will be held after Al Asr prayer today at the Grand Mosque in the village of Zaki Effendi Al Qibliya, affiliated with Abu Hummus Centre in Beheira Governorate, and his body will be laid to rest in the family cemetery amidst a state of sorrow among his family and loved ones.
Late Makhyoun had suffered a sudden health crisis four days ago, after which he was transferred to the hospital, experiencing difficulty breathing due to severe pneumonia and was put under intensive medical monitoring in the ICU unit, where he was also placed on a ventilator. However, his health significantly collapsed and he dies this morning.
Makhyoun is considered one of the most prominent stars of Egyptian art, with a career spanning many decades, during which he presented dozens of cinematic, dramatic, and theatrical works which left a clear mark on the audience's consciousness.
He was distinguished by his calm performance and his great ability to embody complex and diverse characters.
